MEET OUR MIDWIVESHey, I’m Eliza!
I’m a midwife, mother, and part of the team at Nurture and Nourish. I feel incredibly grateful to support women and families in Tamworth through a model of care that prioritises continuity, connection, and trust.
My approach to midwifery has been shaped by both my clinical experience and my own journey into motherhood — particularly my homebirth, which deeply influenced how I understand birth and the importance of feeling safe, supported, and truly known. I’m passionate about walking alongside women through pregnancy, birth, and the postnatal period, offering care that is respectful, evidence-based, and deeply individualised.
How I became a midwife
After high school, I completed a Bachelor of Midwifery at UTS.
During my studies, I was fortunate to have placements with Midwifery Group Practice (MGP) midwives, which sparked my passion for continuity of care and the importance of walking alongside women throughout their journey.
I went on to work at Royal North Shore Hospital, where I developed strong foundational skills across all areas of maternity care. I later joined an MGP team, where I had the privilege of supporting women through pregnancy, birth, and the postnatal period — an experience that deeply shaped my approach to midwifery.
My home birth story
When I was pregnant with my second baby, I experienced firsthand the gap that can exist when continuity of care isn’t available.
I felt a strong pull toward a more connected, supported experience, and I was fortunate to be cared for by a privately practising midwife who agreed to walk alongside me through a planned homebirth.
That experience was truly transformative, shaping not only how I view birth, but how I understand the importance of feeling safe, supported, and deeply known throughout the journey.
Feeling safe, supported, and heard can completely transform the way a woman experiences birth.
My home birth experience
When people hear I had a home birth, they often say, “you must have been so brave.”
But for me, it wasn’t about bravery — it was about trust. I trusted my body. I trusted the evidence. And I trusted my midwife.
I gave birth in my spare room, ate lasagne afterwards, showered in my own bathroom, and settled into bed with my baby safely beside me.
It was calm, simple, and deeply safe — and it is an experience I will always carry with me.
Why I’m here
I believe every woman deserves to feel informed, supported, and respected, no matter where or how she chooses to birth.
While I continue to value and enjoy my work at Tamworth Hospital, I am equally passionate about supporting families through Nurture and Nourish.
Being part of this team means contributing to something truly meaningful — expanding access to continuity of care for women in our region, and supporting them with choice, connection, and genuine care.
It is a privilege to walk alongside families in this way.
Closing
I feel honoured to be part of a midwifery team that is helping to expand choice and continuity of care in our community.
I look forward to supporting you — through pregnancy, birth, and beyond.
