MEET THE OWNER

Hey, I’m Ash!

I’m an Endorsed Midwife, Registered Nurse, and IBCLC Lactation Consultant, as well as the founder of Nurture and Nourish. My work spans midwifery, infant feeding, and holistic maternal care, allowing me to support women and families through pregnancy, birth, breastfeeding, and early parenthood in a way that is calm, evidence-based, and deeply woman-centred.

Alongside my clinical experience, I’ve completed additional training in areas such as Neuroprotective Developmental Care, Calmbirth education, and birth preparation techniques, which allows me to provide comprehensive, individualised support for each family I care for. As a mother of six, my approach is also shaped by lived experience and a strong commitment to improving access to continuity of care for women and families in rural communities.

How I became a midwife

My journey into midwifery began in nursing, with a background in paediatrics and acute care.

Working closely with women and families sparked a deep passion for maternal and infant health, along with a desire to provide care that is continuous, supportive, and relationship-based.

I went on to complete a postgraduate qualification in midwifery, which led me to working across antenatal, labour and birth, and postnatal care. Since then, my focus has been on providing continuity of care and supporting families through pregnancy, birth, and the early transition into parenthood.

My work in lactation & infant feeding

Supporting families with feeding has become one of the most meaningful parts of my practice.

I hold a Certificate IV in Breastfeeding Education and have extensive experience supporting mothers through the Australian Breastfeeding Association, including helpline support, live chat, and community education.

I am also a Diploma-qualified breastfeeding practitioner and an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC), which allows me to support a wide range of feeding journeys — including breastfeeding, bottle feeding, and combination feeding.

My approach is always practical, evidence-based, and compassionate.

My approach to midwifery care

As an Endorsed Midwife, I provide continuity of care throughout pregnancy, birth, and the postpartum period.

My care is grounded in calm, respectful, and evidence-based midwifery, with a strong focus on informed choice, emotional safety, and truly individualised support.

At the centre of everything I do is the belief that every woman deserves to feel supported, heard, and confident in her journey.

Additional training & support

I also offer care supported by additional training in:

  • Neuroprotective Developmental Care (NDC)

  • Calmbirth education

  • Acuneedling and acupressure

  • Breech support and Spinning Babies® techniques

These skills allow me to support families with pregnancy comfort, birth preparation, and early parenting in a gentle, holistic way.

Women deserve to feel safe, supported, and truly heard as they step into motherhood.

Why I founded Nurture and Nourish

Nurture and Nourish was created from my lived experience of being part of a rural community with limited access to continuity of pregnancy care, birth choices, and lactation support.

As a mother of six, these gaps in care impacted me deeply — both personally and professionally — and strengthened my commitment to creating something better for women in our region.

I wanted to build a practice where women could access continuity, expertise, and genuine support across every stage of their journey, no matter where they live.

Our vision

My vision for Nurture and Nourish is one of continued growth — expanding our team, increasing our services, and extending our reach into more rural communities across Tamworth and surrounding regions.

I am proud to lead a team providing gold standard, empowering, woman-centred care, and I am incredibly grateful for the dedicated midwives who share this vision.

Together, we are proud to have pioneered the first private midwifery practice in Tamworth, offering women real choice and continuity where it has historically been limited.

I look forward to the future of Nurture and Nourish with great excitement as we continue to support more positive, supported transitions to parenthood for more families.

What matters most to me

At the heart of my work is a simple belief — that women deserve to feel safe, supported, and heard throughout their journey into motherhood.

It is a privilege to walk alongside families through pregnancy, birth, breastfeeding, and early parenthood.

Closing

I am so grateful for the incredible team we have built, and I look forward to continuing to support families across Tamworth and surrounding communities as we grow.
